2016 Machine Orange Dryland Challenge

In addition to the professional-level coaching our kids receive from Coach Corey and his staff, this challenge will build a sense of community for this team so that the players can stay connected and be their best throughout the spring and summer season.

Dryland Challenge

This challenge combines dynamic warm-up and functional fitness exercises to develop overall athleticism and well-conditioned athletes. By integrating these components into a weekly regimen, players can develop the essential skills needed to elevate their game when competing as a team.

Goals

  1. Increase mental focus and readiness through brain and body connectivity.

  2. Improve coachability, awareness, and attention skills.

  3. Improve coordination, balance, strength, and aerobic conditioning.

Overview

  1. Non-Game Days: Establish a daily routine, perform the functional fitness exercises and dynamic warm-up, recording the amount in the appropriate row/column.

  2. Game Days—This will be our pre-game warm-up, which the boys will conduct. I will oversee it, but they will organize and lock each other in.

At Home Instructions

  1. Stationary Exercises - Complete at least 12 reps of each exercise to receive one (1) credit.

  2. Movement Exercises - Ankle Hops, High Knees, Butt Kicks, Side Shuffles, Carioca, and Power Skips = Four (4) trips the width of driveway (15 yards) per credit.

  3. Place a one (1) in the appropriate box each time a drill and suggested reps are performed.

  • At the last practice of the month, the top three (3) performers will be rewarded with a $10 gift to Dairy Queen.
